BD - Meeting the Dreamguider

Description

It can be quite a shock, I can imagine. One minute, you're peacefully sleeping, and then you feel something on your bed. You open your eyes, and you see a little girl sitting upon your bed, staring right at you.

Of course, your first reaction is understandable.....get out of bed and back away. But once the shock wears off, and you find that this girl means no harm, you settle back down and question her presence.

It turns out, this little girl is a "Dreamguider". She has the ability to control dreams, to prevent any nightmares from infecting it. It sounds a little creepy in some ways. How does that all work? The girl is reluctant to reveal more...unless, she says, she can whisper it in your ear.......

----------

And that brings us to this picture, for :iconsarah-the-ninja-101:. She's a big inspiration to me, and I thought I'd draw something for her birthday. :)

I wanted to draw one of her OCs with one of mine. I know she likes Whisper, but I couldn't pick an OC of hers....but when I saw her draw herself in pajamas.....well, it just worked.

Oh, and it's FULL COLOUR this time, too......but I suck at making it look like nighttime. ^^;

Anyway, enjoy, and Happy Birthday Sarah. :)

Whisper is C to me.

vision:
I really like the theme, in fact this is why I chose to criticize this work. Who wouldn't like to have a dream guider?

originality:
Dreams are often drawn as being oneself in a surreal environment, like floating or seen imaginary and fantastic creatures. However, it's not that kind of dream, nor it's not that type of guider: We have Whisper, in a normal bedroom, guiding with her voice (at least is what I feel). I wonder if she is giving instructions or she is making her fall asleep with her words.

technique:
About the technique... it's true this drawing is quite old so you improved these years, but still the way you pass the pencil color could be improved with simple actions. did you try coloring in circular moves? I think it would cover blanks easier and the lines would be smoother.

impact:
it's colourful, so it impacted me above the rest of drawings. the fact of the work being called "meeting the dreamguider" and see a bed in first plane creates a lot of questions in my head, so this drawing is quite free to analyze, to interpret
